EXERCISE AS A PRESCRIPTION
HEALING VETERANS' INVISIBLE WOUNDS
The benefits of exercise and nutrition as therapy for PTS and reducing veteran suicide rates are well studied and documented.
The benefits include an improvement of physical and cognitive abilities, an increase in confidence and self-esteem, advances in social tendencies, enhanced well-being, and encouraging a greater sense of accomplishment.
Using exercise and nutrition as therapy as a tool is profound because there are no barriers to any individual participating.

EXERCISE AS A PRESCRIPTION
PARTICIPANT EXPECTATION
To be successful in the "Exercise as an RX" program, Veterans have a few responsibilities to stay in the program. These are critical parts of the journey to recovery.
Go to the gym at least twice a week.
Meet with the nutrition coach at least once every two weeks. The Veteran also agrees to conduct an Inbody or similar scan at the beginning, midpoint, and end of the program.
Meet with the “Battle Buddy” at least once every two weeks. The Battle Buddy is someone that has walked in the shoes of the program participants and can relate to what you are going through. Simply put, they are a mentor, a set of open ears, and someone that cares to see you recover.
Once a month, fill out the Program Progression Survey.
